Beenish Zia

Beenish Zia is an Advocate of the High Courts and holds an LL.B (Hons) from the University of London. She is an Associate at Asma Jahangir (AGHS) Legal Aid Cell, the prime focus of her litigation is the family law division along with selective areas of criminal law. Ms. Zia has worked extensively on drafting recommendations for various laws incorporating a gender perspective and organizing seminars and consultations on special laws for women including workplace harassment law and domestic violence law. In 2019, Ms. Zia took on additional responsibility at AGHS as the Conference-Secretary for the ‘Asma Jahangir Conference on Roadmap for Human Rights 2019’ organized in collaboration with the Pakistan Bar Council and was a member of the core management team for the ‘Asma Jahangir, Justice for Empowerment Conference 2018’ organized in collaboration with the Supreme Court Bar Association and UN Women. Ms. Zia regularly gives trainings at the AGHS Paralegal Community Centers. Through her Op-Ed articles for various newspapers and academic research papers, Ms. Zia contributes to the debate on different social issues.
